I want to take this time to wish all of our students, families and staff members a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR! A year ago we had no idea that 2020 was going to be filled with so many challenges and hardships. We have all been changed by 2020, but we are stronger for what has been experienced. As we look forward to 2021, let’s begin this new year with HOPE & INSPIRATION. Our school and community are surrounded by many WONDERFUL people and I am THANKFUL that you allow our Team the opportunity to teach and lead you children. Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR! COVID-19 Quarantine Guidelines Update:
The following information communicates updated guidelines regarding quarantine length for a close contact of a positive case of COVID-19:
-A one time close contact will quarantine for at least 10 days and return to work or school after 10 days if no symptoms have developed (even the development of one less common symptom will cause for the individual to remain in quarantine for 14 days).
-A person can test on day five (5) or later of their 10 day quarantine and return to work or school after seven (7) days of quarantine with a negative test result(this is regarding the one time close contact only).
-A close contact to someone that lives in your home will be a 14 day quarantine after your last close contact with the individual prior to isolation.
-14 day quarantine is still recommended as the safest time frame.

The Henning School will remain in our current Learning Model until Christmas Vacation. Our current model consists of:
Grades PreK-3 will be In-person at school Monday through Thursday (no school on Friday for grades PreK-3 only).
Grades 4-12 will be in our Distance Learning Model (ALL Online)
*Christmas Vacation begins Wednesday, December 23.
Our COVID Incident Team will meet on December 28 to make a final decision regarding the learning model we will return to school in on January 4 (Our team is hopeful that we can return to our Hybrid Learning Model that we operated under up until our Thanksgiving break).
As part of our 12 Days of Christmas Activities students, staff, families and community members are encouraged to wear green today. Grow the Grinch's heart by making a donation to Henning Hope. Due to our Distance Learning Model, our annual Penny Wars (Penny's for Presents) has been postponed until we have our students Prek-12 back in the building. Today (Monday, December 7) through Friday, December 11 our students, staff, families and community members can drop off donation at the district office. Students in grades PreK-3 can give their donations to their classroom teacher. Any size donation is welcome - it will all add up to support an amazing community organization. Henning Hope assists our students and families in need with Christmas presents, winter clothing and much much more. Please make checks payable to Henning Hope.
The Henning Staff have the following expectation during online learning for basic online etiquette and for full attendance, participation and credit being awarded:
1. Parents should address items with teachers during our scheduled
break times, not during class time (with no other students present).
2. The student must be logged in to their Google Meet class session individually and on time.
3. The student's entire face must be visible in live video (NO AVATAR) for recognition and participation/engagement.
4. The student must be present the entire class period.
5. The student must be focused on class content and not be engaged in other activities that are a nuisance to their learning.
6. The student must be dressed appropriately (their attire should not be a distraction to other students or staff).
7. Students should be muted when they are not asking a question or until they are called upon.
8. The student must be aware of their background and environment. The students background and environment must not be a distraction to their learning or the learning of others (Students can use the "Background Blur Option" feature in Google Meets to assist with this matter).
*Attendance & Participation rules apply to all learners during all of our Learning Models. If a student is absent, their participation in practice and games can be impacted.
*If a student is not attending class, parents are expected to call
the office to excuse an absence prior to the absence occurring. Unexcused absences can result in missed opportunities and a possible grade reduction. Attendance Policy regarding excused and unexcused remains the same in all learning models - these procedures can be found in the student handbook.
*If a student is experiencing technical difficulties, the student or parent should call the school immediately to communicate problems and inquire about possible solutions.
