Throughout the program, students work with instructors Mr. Hart, Mr. Oscarson, and Mr. Aeling to complete the classroom portion of Minnesota’s Firearm Safety program. Students learn about firearm safety, responsible handling, hunting ethics, wildlife conservation, and the importance of making safe and responsible decisions.
After completing the classroom instruction, students are partnered with other local certified instructors to participate in the required field day, where they demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have learned and complete their final assessment.
This is an opportunity we are especially proud to provide, as Henning is one of very few schools offering Firearm Safety education to its students as part of the school experience and at no cost to families. By working together with local instructors and community members, we are able to give every 6th-grade student access to valuable safety education and the opportunity to earn their Firearm Safety Certification.

Please help us spread the word to anyone in the community who might be interested. We’d love to see you there!

Friendship is about seeing the person, celebrating what makes each of us unique, and making sure everyone has a place to belong. We love seeing the smiles, friendships, and kindness that make our Henning School community so special. ❤
Today, our students and bus drivers took time to review and practice important bus safety procedures to help keep everyone safe throughout the school year!
Students and staff practiced:
• Properly entering and exiting the bus
• Following important bus safety rules
• Riding safely and responsibly
• Using emergency exit windows
• Safely exiting from the back of the bus.
Keeping our students safe is a team effort, and our community plays an important role too. As you travel throughout the school year, please remember to stay alert for school buses and students—especially before and after school.
When a school bus has its stop arm extended and red lights flashing, motorists MUST stop and remain stopped until it is safe to proceed.
Thank you to our students, staff, bus drivers, families, and community members for doing your part to help keep our students safe!

Today, we recognize and celebrate the hard work and dedication of workers in our community and across the country.
We hope our students, staff, families, and community members enjoy a safe and relaxing Labor Day!
