My favorite snow week activity is activity day because I like it when I don’t have to be in school. 2. Where would you go on a road trip with 3 friends in your family minivan, who would it be and why would it be them? I would bring Mitchell to drive the van, Keegan would be the glue to hold us together and I would bring Gabi because she would bring the comedy and she would give us turns. We would go to Oakwood Supper Club and Golf Course. 3. What song relates to you and why? The song that relates to me is Material Girl by Madonna 4. What teacher would you pick to be famous with you for a day and why? I would pick Mrs. Cichy so she could organize my life like she does Mr. Williams! 5. What is your favorite snow week activity and why? My favorite snow week day is Activity Day because it is a fun day out of school with my friends. 2. Where would you go on a road trip with 3 friends in your family minivan, who would it be and why would it be them? I would go to Florida with Becca, Ally, and Natalie because we would all enjoy the warm weather. 3. What song relates to you and why? A song that relates to me is “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol because it is in my favorite show, Grey’s Anatomy. 4. What teacher would you pick to be famous with you for a day and why? I would pick Mrs. Iliff so she can take a break from math for a day! 5. If you had a pet Parrot, what phrase would you teach it ? I would train my parrot to say “Hiiii” so it would always greet people coming in! ----- Queen Candidate: Becca Frederick Becca is the daughter of Brian and Hannah Frederick. 1. What is your favorite snow week activity and why? My favorite snow week activity is when we get to choose between going skiing, fishing, or bowling because we can do whichever we like. 2. Where would you go on a road trip with 3 friends in your family minivan, who would it be and why would it be them? I would go on a road trip to the nearest ferry and go to Paris with Faith, Ally, and Gabi so we could all eat good bread together! 3. What song relates to you and why? Dancing in the Dark by Rihanna because I like dancing in the dark places. 4. What teacher would you pick to be famous with you for a day and why? I would choose Mrs. Iliff because she’ll always have snacks and gum for me. 5. If you had a pet Parrot, what phrase would you teach it ? What is your favorite snow week activity and why? My favorite snow week activity is dodgeball because I am always up for a game of dodgeball, anyplace/anywhere. 2. Where would you go on a road trip with 3 friends in your family minivan, who would it be and why would it be them? I would go to Disney World with Riley, Gretchen, and Natalie because we love Mickey Mouse rides and food. 3. What song relates to you and why? “Young, Dumb, and Broke”...... because if you saw my bank account you would understand. 4. What teacher would you pick to be famous with you for a day and why? I would pick Mr. Hart because we are a father/daughter duo. 5. If you had a pet Parrot, what phrase would you teach it? I would teach my pet parrot to say, “Guess what….Chicken butt.”

King Candidate: Mitchell Cichy Mitchell is the son of Chris and Tammy Cichy. 1. What is your favorite snow week activity and why? Activity Day because we get out of school. 2. Where would you go on a road trip with 3 friends in your family minivan, who would it be and why would it be them? I would take Keegan, Ben, and Carter to the car dealerships and trade my minivan for an RV. We would go to Oakwood for a quick bite to eat and then to Balmoral to get some golf in. 3. What song relates to you and why? The song Chicken Fried relates to me because I love Zac Brown 4. What teacher would you pick to be famous with you for a day and why? I would choose Mr. Speer so I would have a bodyguard! 5. If you had a pet Parrot, what phrase would you teach it? I would teach my parrot the Pledge of Allegiance. ----- King Candidate: Tyson Misegades Tyson is the son of Randy and Becky Misegades. 1. What is your favorite snow week activity and why? Playing basketball because it is fun. 2. Where would you go on a road trip with 3 friends in your family minivan, who would it be and why would it be them? I would play football with Justin Jefferson, Keegs, and Mitchell so we could hit the griddy! 3. What song relates to you and why? Perfect by Ed Sheeran is the song that relates to me. 4. What teacher would you pick to be famous with you for a day and why? I would pick my dad because he’s cool. 5. If you had a pet Parrot, what phrase would you teach it ? I would teach my pet parrot to say “Good Morning” when I wake up. ----- King Candidate: Ben Oseien Ben is the son of Ben Oseien and Candace Jallen. 1. What is your favorite snow week activity and why? Regardless of the activity, I enjoy picking litter up off the ground in our hallways to make the school a better and more clean place for my wonderful classmatesand staff members. 2. Where would you go on a road trip with 3 friends in your family minivan, who would it be and why would it be them? If I could go on a road trip, I’d take the entire Steve Misegades family and we would use a Uhaul instead of a minivan. We would go to the Bahamas, using a ferry to haul the Uhaul to the Islands! 3. What song relates to you and why? The SKOUL chant! I love football. 4. What teacher would you pick to be famous with you for a day and why? I would pick Mr. Armendarez to be famous with and we would end world hunger with hotdogs for everyone! 5. If you had a pet Parrot, what phrase would you teach it ? I would teach my pet parrot to say “ I’m so grumpy and I want candles and poprocks”! ----- Name: Colton Reinbold Colton is the son of Matt and Heidi Reinbold. 1. What is your favorite snow week activity and why? Broomball is my favorite activity because it is really fun!!! 2. Where would you go on a road trip with 3 friends in your family minivan, who would it be and why would it be them? I would take Brody, Noah, Dawson and I’d even take my brother Eli. It would be a blast because we would either get lost or go in the ditch! 3. What song relates to you and why? “Until you Can’t” relates to me because life is short and you never know when you will lose someone you love. 4. What teacher would you pick to be famous with you for a day and why? I’d pick Mr. Hart, he’s crazy and wild and it would be so much fun. 5. If you had a pet Parrot, what phrase would you teach it ? My dad said I can’t tell you what I want the parrot to say because it’s not school appropriate!

Check out some of the different opportunities a variety of our students had last week! 🚭 Students in fifth-eighth grade had the opportunity to listen to the presentation given by Jason McCoy on The Truth about Vaping. This presentation informed students about what vaping is, the risks of vaping, and the various efforts the tobacco companies are making to hook teenagers. 🚍 Senior Survival students had the opportunity to attend an Agriculture Career Pathway Field Trip and had the chance to tour the Jennie-O Hatchery in Henning last week. This field trip gave the students the opportunity to explore the agriculture field and have a look at the behind the scenes of this career. ❄️ Students in grades 7-12 conducted a community service event last Thursday when they helped shovel fire hydrants around Henning. The event was organized by our NHS students and got lots of help from SADD, Student Council, other students and teachers.

Our work based learning, senior survival and, students interested in the healthcare field had the opportunity to go visits a few different locations this week. The work based learning and senior survival students had the opportunity to go to North Dakota School of Science in Wahpeton Monday. While they were there they toured the construction, welding, automotive, engineering, power sports, machining, and ag programs. Students who attended the healthcare trip had the opportunity to tour PioneerCare in Fergus Fall and Perham Health. Thank you to all these locations for allowing our students to come and tour your facilities.

Henning Community has a few different events going on for adults: • Pickleball- Starting Sunday, January 15 @ 4:00 pm. This is a weekly event. The cost for pickelball is $3/person/time or $10/person/month. • Open Gym Basketball and Volleyball on Wednesday nights from 7 pm - 9pm. This is a weekly event. The cost for open is $3/person/time or $10/person/month. • Gumball Container Craft with Steph Ladwig on Monday, January 23. Cost of this event is $35. Please pre-register by January 16. We want to send a BIG THANK YOU out to all our families that came out to our Preschool and Early Childhood Family Education Gingerbread House Event! We had 36 ECFE and preschool children attend. Children brought parents, grandparents, and other adult "helpers" to assist in making their gingerbread houses. Each child had the experience of making a one-of-a-kind gingerbread house and families had the opportunity to continue or begin a fun holiday tradition. Each child chose a book to take home to read with his/her family. Our Early Childhood Family Education and preschool staff would like to recognize that parents are a child's first and most important teachers. We aim to support parents and families educationally through classes and parenting education as they raise the next generation. We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! Our Kindergarten students from Mrs. Amundson's room celebrated by making a couple different turkeys last week. They created some turkey crafts and they even had the opportunity to create an edible turkey with Mrs. Haughdahl. 🦃🦃🦃

CONGRATULATIONS to Norah Froslee for qualifying for the State Girls Cross Country Meet!!! Norah ran a 20:33.2 which earned her 9th place! The state cross country meet will be held on Saturday, November 5 at the St. Olaf College. Norah's race will start at noon. Also congratulations to Peter Newark and Joseph Froslee who both finished in the Top 20 which earned them All- Section honors. Peter ran a time of 17:24 which placed him in 11th place. Joseph ran a time of 18:12.2 which placed him in 20th place. Both the girls and boys teamd placed 5th as a team. This is the highest finish for the girls in school history!! 🖤❤️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ Congratulations to both our OTC Cross Country Teams on outstanding seasons! We are proud of you all! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️❤️🖤

The Henning Elementary School Costume Parade will be held On Monday, October 31. If our local businesses, families and friends want to provide TREATS to our students, we ask that you give the TREATS to the teachers and not to the students. TREATS will be handed out back in the classrooms after the parade. Classroom sizes are provided below for knowing accurate distribution of TREATS for a specific classroom and/or grade level. Our gifted and talented teacher, Mrs. Ellefson, has been busy engaging the fifth grade students with some fun learning. 😁 Her CSI students who have been meeting weekly are currently solving a crime. They are using forensic science, inductive and deductive reasoning to analyze a crime scene and determine who did the crime. They will distinguish evidence from inference while using scientific methods such as fingerprint and footprint comparisons, DNA comparisons, chromatography, pH testing, and powder and thread comparison testing to solve a crime. Last week, Mrs. Ellefson, read the story “The Invisible Boy,” by Trudy Ludwig, to the fifth graders. The story centers around a new student, Justin, who is struggling to be accepted until another classmate, Brian, comments that his lunch of "Bulgogi (Korean BBQ steak) looks delicious. Our 5th graders learned through this story how small acts of kindness can help everyone feel included. After finishing the story Mrs. Ellefson demonstrated how to make bulgogi. The students were excited to learn how to use chopsticks while sampling the dish! They loved Bulgogi!

During homecoming week students in grades 7-12 get to participate in a dodgeball tournament, and the juniors and seniors compete in Powder Puff Football and Iron Man Volleyball. This year the senior class of 2023 came out on top in all three events! Congratulations seniors!
