This morning, our 4th and 8th graders participated in a “Walk in Their Shoes” experience centered on empathy, understanding, and inclusion.
Through hands-on simulations, students explored what learning can feel like for individuals with a variety of visible and invisible exceptionalities. Stations included vision-impaired goggles, a dyslexia reading simulation, auditory and sensory stimuli while focusing on a task, writing challenges, and opportunities for reflection.
A heartfelt thank you to our presenters and everyone who helped facilitate this meaningful experience. These activities helped students build awareness, compassion, and respect for different ways of learning, reminding us that everyone’s experiences are unique, and everyone belongs!
