The Hornet Trap team wrapped up its 5 week Fall season in late October. With the loss of sunlight each day in the Fall, the team gets to shoot under the lights for much of the second half of the season. These shooters are looking forward to their spring season coming up in March!
5th grade students recently had the opportunity to travel to Ottertail to check out the Ottertail County Sheriff Department's CSI equipment. The 5th graders recently completed a Crime scene investigation where they used different scientific powder tests to determine who stole a missing cake. They also learned some of the processes in which evidence, data, and information are collected and the proper way to handle and present these findings.
Parent Teacher Conferences for Preschool-12th Grade are scheduled for Tuesday, November 16 & Thursday, November 18. Our conferences are scheduled for in-person at the school, but a family can request a virtual conference if they would prefer. Congratulations to Mrs. Damm (Henning School Counselor) on her being recognized and receiving The Distinguished Education Professional award from North Dakota State University. The award recognizes area educators who are advocates for access to higher education and who work effectively with the NDSU Office of Admission.
Recipients are nominated by NDSU Office of Admission staff based on leadership, commitment and excellence in supporting access to higher education and support of NDSU’s recruiting efforts. The Distinguished Education Professionals are honored at an annual ceremony
Mrs. Feda's Kindergartner class is using seasonal materials in their learning (and having quite a bit of fun in the process). The pumpkin pounding is building their fine motor skills and the fall leaf painting provides the opportunity for exploration with mixing basic colors to create new colors.
5th graders recently completed a Positive-Negative & Symmetry inspired Halloween art project where they discussed symmetry not only in math and science, but real life as well!
CONGRATULATIONS to our OTC Bulldog Football team on claiming the 2021 Midwest (Blue) District Championship. With a victory this past Tuesday night over Wacker-Hackensack-Akeley (42-7), the Bulldogs head into the Section 6A semifinal game on Saturday, October 30 @ 2:00 p.m. vs. Breckenridge Cowboys (in Battle Lake). GO BULLDOGS!!!

Who says long division can't be fun? 4th graders spent time today learning the first steps to long division by using division boxes. They were able to look at division as grouping with repeated subtraction and that sometimes you have left overs aka remainder. We also had a little time to play with the manipulatives which was their favorite part.
Forensic scientists in Mrs. Ellefson’s 5th grade CSI class were using chromatography, PH testing, fingerprint and fiber analysis to solve the mystery of Felix Navidad.
State Trooper Godding presented police procedures to Mrs. Ellefson’s 3rd grade CSI class. Students learned about the equipment troopers use with their work. Each student received a plastic badge to wear.

If our community families, friends and businesses would like to provide our students a treat, we ask that you hand the treats to the classroom teachers (not students) to keep the parade moving at an appropriate pace. Our 6th & 7th grade students had two great weather days to visit and explore the Itasca State Park. What a great activity for our students to participate in as they study Minnesota History. #HornetPride
Congratulations to the Henning Hornets Volleyball Team on their BIG win against the New York Mills Eagles in a very close 3-2 VICTORY!
The Henning Student Section showed up to WORK (hardhats, safety gear, steel toe boots, traffic barrels and more) for an EPIC student section BATTLE against the NYM Student Section - It was a FUN atmosphere.
Our Kindergarten students had a "BLAST" with the Henning Fire Department as they learned about Fire Safety and Fire Equipment. We truly appreciate ALL of our Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Team members.
