The Henning School will be CLOSED on Monday, February 21 in honor of Presidents' Day!

The Henning School performed a Lockdown Drill today that had students talking about scenarios and they practiced barricading classroom doors. We continue to work on school safety protocols to prepare our students for the "unthinkable." Please talk to your children and ask them questions about the drill - some students get emotional even when we clearly communicate we are practicing.

The Henning School will be dismissing students at 1:00 today (Friday, February 18) due to the poor weather. ALL Activities (High School & Elementary) are canceled for this evening.

5th grade held their 4th annual Valentine’s Box Competition this week. A big shoutout to our celebrity judges Mrs. Cichy, Mrs. Sparks, and Mr. Williams, thanks for helping make this years competition a success! A lot of great boxes this year, congratulations to all the 5th graders on their hard work. Pictured are some of this years 5th grade winners.

Trap Meeting

Our grades K-5 Tubing/Skiing Trip to Andes Tower Hills scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed until Wednesday, March 2.

Students in grades 5, 7, 8, 9, & 11 will be participating in the Minnesota Student Survey (MSS) beginning the week of 2/22-3/4. An information letter has been sent home with each student, but we understand that sometimes materials get misplaced along the way. To make sure our families have access to the communication regarding the MSS to make an informed decision about their child's participation, we have linked the communication here:
Minnesota Student Survey Letter - https://5il.co/15qq3
Minnesota Student Survey Questions: https://mnstudentsurvey.org/instruments
*Please know that to opt your student out from participation in the MSS, the bottom portion of the letter must be returned to school. We encourage a follow-up call or email as well.

Our preschoolers had a blast with pancake week! They made signs for their restaurant and pretended to be customers, cooks, and waiters. They also retold the story “If You Give a Pig a Pancake” and flipped pancakes while learning numbers through 15. Oh, and they ate pancakes in their pajamas to celebrate their fun fun week!

Senior Spotlight!

The Henning School and ALL activities will be canceled today (Friday, February 11) due to the poor weather conditions. Enjoy your snow day!

Mrs. Amundson's & Ms. Feda's Kindergarten classes had a great time celebrating the 100th Day of Kindergarten. Each student created a 100 collection and presented it to their classmates. Students enjoyed stories about the 100th Day of School, singing songs about 100 and they had fun trying to stack 100 cups in 100 minutes. Happy 100th Day of School!

All afterschool/evening activities are cancelled today (Thursday, February 10). No Elementary Basketball or Wrestling Practices, No Targeted Services, No Ice Skating, No Cheerleading......

This "COOL" band of Super Heroes united to fight the frigid temperatures of Otter Tail Lake to support the Special Olympics. They wear capes in their day jobs too. Great job Mrs. Finck, Mrs. Hoelscher, Mrs. Horn, Ms. Mathias & Mrs. Mills.

Emma Severson represented the Henning School and Community wonderfully as the Sub-Section 22 AAA Award Winner at the Region 6A Contest. These students represent a very select group (4 young women & 4 young men) that are narrowed down from 41 Regional schools. The group of eight students that were selected to be part of the ceremony and represent their school and Sub-Section are all OUTSTANDING individuals that their parents, communities and schools are EXTREMELY PROUD of.
GREAT JOB EMMA - and her high school story still has a few chapters remaining!
