Hank Kohler visits the Henning School. Photo is a portrait of Hank holding his canoe paddle.

Students in grades 5-12 had the opportunity to hear from Mr. Hank Kohler, author of One4Water: Paddling North to Polar Bears and South to Alligators. Hank shared stories from his incredible 1,900-mile canoe trip from East Leaf Lake to the Gulf of Mexico—a journey that raised thousands of dollars for conservation efforts. Forty-two years earlier, Hank had embarked on a similar adventure, paddling from East Leaf Lake to Hudson Bay.

Hank, 62, grew up on a farm in Iowa and has

deep connections to both the Ottertail Rod and Gun Club and Mr. David Hawes from the Rod and Gun Club. He divides his time between around Ottertail and Iowa.

The event featured a slideshow of Hank's photographs, which brought his stories to life. There was also a chance for students to ask Hank questions about his travels and purchase signed copies of his book.

It was a unique opportunity to hear from this super inspiring adventurer!
