national bpa

Last week BPA members Lila Thorson and Monica Hansen, along with BPA coach, Mike Hepola, made the trip to Anahemi, California for the National BPA Contest! There over 6,000 student competing at the contest!

Lila and Monica did an excellent job representing our school both in competition and also as wonderful young ladies throughout the conference. Both had qualified for Nationals in 2 events which is very impressive.

- Lila came away with the highest finish with a 14th place finish out of 52 students in Advanced Office Systems and Procedures (Microsoft Office). Lila also finished 35th out of 54 students in the Advanced Word Processing Skills (Microsoft Word) contest.

- Monica finished 40th out of 67 students in the Intermediate Word Processing Skills (Microsoft Word) contests and in her Prepared Speech contest we don't know her overall finish due to several sections of judges and despite doing a great job wasn't named one of the Top 10 finalists.

Coach Hepola said, “I'm very proud of these two as a sophomore and freshman qualifying for the National Contests and doing a great job representing our BPA program, our school and community.”

Congratulations to the girls and the rest of the BPA team for a successful year!
