The Henning Staff have the following expectation during online learning for basic online etiquette and for full attendance, participation and credit being awarded: 1. Parents should address items with teachers during our scheduled break times, not during class time (with no other students present). 2. The student must be logged in to their Google Meet class session individually and on time. 3. The student's entire face must be visible in live video (NO AVATAR) for recognition and participation/engagement. 4. The student must be present the entire class period. 5. The student must be focused on class content and not be engaged in other activities that are a nuisance to their learning. 6. The student must be dressed appropriately (their attire should not be a distraction to other students or staff). 7. Students should be muted when they are not asking a question or until they are called upon. 8. The student must be aware of their background and environment. The students background and environment must not be a distraction to their learning or the learning of others (Students can use the "Background Blur Option" feature in Google Meets to assist with this matter). *Attendance & Participation rules apply to all learners during all of our Learning Models. If a student is absent, their participation in practice and games can be impacted. *If a student is not attending class, parents are expected to call the office to excuse an absence prior to the absence occurring. Unexcused absences can result in missed opportunities and a possible grade reduction. Attendance Policy regarding excused and unexcused remains the same in all learning models - these procedures can be found in the student handbook. *If a student is experiencing technical difficulties, the student or parent should call the school immediately to communicate problems and inquire about possible solutions.

With all the COVID-19 uncertainty, the traditional Prairie Fire Children's Theatre event will not occur this year. However, Prairie Fire staff and the Henning Community Education Board have worked together to offer a unique set of four short theatrical workshops for children (one of only two locations). They are excited to offer a creative opportunity for kids to enjoy time together. On Tuesday August 18, there will be four, 45-minute theatrical workshops, each designed for specific age groups. Henning Community Education funded a sizable portion of the expense, so families only need to pay $5 per child per workshop, with a maximum charge of $10 per child and $20 per family. Registration forms and fee collection will be at the Henning School District Office, and are available whenever the school building is open for business. The classes will be held in the Henning School cafeteria. Children do not need to bring anything to the workshops, but they should wear comfortable clothes for movement and they are asked to wear closed-toe shoes (no flip-flops or crocs) for safety. At a minimum, temperatures and simple health questions will be asked prior to entry of participants or visitors. If/as COVID-related protocols change prior to the workshops, the Henning School Board will determine any modifications needed for the health and safety of everyone involved. Henning Community Education encourages children to participate, even if they are not currently Henning students: homeschoolers, cousins, grandkids, etc. are all welcome to register. Registration must be completed by Wednesday August 12, with a minimum of five children and a maximum of 25 participants registered per workshop. Classes are: 9:00 to 9:45 am ... Creative Dramatics - ages 5 to 7 years old. 10:00 to 10:45 am ... Acting - ages 8 to 11 years old. 11:00 to 11:45 am ... Silent Acting - ages 10 to 13 years old. 12:00 to 12:45 pm ... Acting - ages 12 to 15 years old. Because 45-minutes will go by quickly, the workshops will begin and end on time. If a child is close to a different age group and the family would like to place them with a friend/relative in another class, that should be workable if their are slots available and it is recognized that the workshop will be geared for the planned age level. Prairie Fire and Henning Community Education have already planned a full, regular production for Summer 2021 with 'Sleeping Beauty' August 15-21, 2021. If there are any questions, please contact Elizabeth Froslee at firstname.lastname@example.org or (210)627-4843 cell

The decision has been made to cancel the 2020 Prom that was scheduled for June 27 at Thumper Pond. The decision took into account: - Maintaining consistency with school expectations regarding social distancing, group size meetings and overall healthy practices to protect our students and staff. - Limitations that Thumper Pond has regarding the number of patrons allowed in the areas used for Prom & Post Prom. - Student survey data regarding not wanting to reschedule (again) after June 27. We understand this decision will be upsetting to some of our students and families. Please know that we made this decision in the overall best interest of our student and staff at this time.

Henning Public School is considering extending our FREE breakfast and lunch program from Tuesday, May 26th to Wednesday, July 1st. Meals would need to be curbside pick-up 3-days a week at the school. The state of Minnesota has not come to a final decision about summer recreation programs, the school is not sure if our usual Summer Recreation programs will resume this June, or if those programs will be delayed for a week or more. Regardless of this outcome, we would like to measure the interest in continuing our free breakfast and lunch program to members of the community that are 18 years of age or under. This summer meal program would begin on Tuesday, May 26th, and go until Wednesday, July 1st. Because meals would no longer be delivered to your home, meals would need to be picked up at the Henning Public School. The pick-up window would be 1 hour in length and would occur on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, except for the first week, where the pick-up days would be Tuesday, May 26th, and Thursday, May 28th. Please complete the survey questions below so we can better gauge the interests and continue to serve the Henning Public School Community. https://forms.gle/JQcuoL6dE1yQYHJHA
