Good Evening Henning Public School Families,
It has been announced by Govern Tim Walz that all Minnesota Schools will be shut down from March 18th – March 27th. I understand this creates numerous issues for our families; rest assured our team is working on plans to continue to meet the needs of our students during the shutdown. Henning Public School will be in session during Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 17 to give families time to arrange child care options, hand out school technology, and train students on how “distance learning” will work if the closure continues past March 30th. There will be no school assignments during the March 18-27-time period. This time is only for teacher planning. Target services will be suspended at this time starting this week. During March 16 and 17 visitors will not be permitted in the school. If you need to pick up your child, please call the district office and we will walk your child to your vehicle.
Our School District will deliver a cold breakfast and lunch option each day to the student’s home address during the closure. There will be a letter sent home Monday, March 16th for families to opt-out for the meal delivery and should be returned on Tuesday, March 17th. If a child of a health care worker or first responder does not have child care Henning Public School will provide this service during school hours free of charge.
This will be a very challenging situation for all of us, but we are fortunate to have an amazing staff, students, and community members – we will get through this!
